Abstract

The topic of the scientific article is devoted to some languages of national and ethnic minorities of Ukraine (Bulgarian, Hungarian, Greek, Modern Greek, Polish, Romanian, Slovak). The material was the reports of Ukraine (the second, third and fourth) on the implementation of the obligations arising from the European Charter of Regional or Minority Languages of 1992, comments of international bodies (the Venice Commission), scientific articles, static data of state authorities. The purpose of this article is to identify the problems that exist in the areas of using the above-mentioned languages, for example, in the field of education, in the mass media. This article is based on general scientific (collection of speech material, observation), private (descriptive), statistical methods of linguistics. The analysis of the study of the state of the languages of national and ethnic minorities and the spheres of their application showed that in the field of education there is a need to increase the number of national schools, teachers (native speakers of these languages), educational, educational and methodological literature, as well as the quality of the educational process, the disciplines taught, to increase the stimulation of the study of minority languages of Ukraine among schoolchildren, students, teachers. It is established that in the field of mass media, the state authorities of Ukraine should allocate more hours to national broadcasting programs, radio broadcasts in the languages of national and ethnic minorities. The theoretical significance is due to the possibility of using the results of the article to expand the content of theoretical courses in legal linguistics, comparative sociolinguistics, and the theory of language policy. The results of the study can be used as a resource for expanding the theoretical base of regional sociolinguistics.
