Chaning of modern lexicographic paradigm in digital era (with special reference to english dictionaries)

The article offers analysis of lexicographic paradigm changes with special reference to general and special English dictionaries of new generation, due to the intensive development of new information technologies and digitalization of modern lexicography, when the focus in the dictionary making process is changing. I.e.: choice of the dictionary sources, mega-, macro- and microstructure architecture, format and methods of forming dictionary corpus and ways of lexicographic treatment of the keywords. The paper describes new lexicographic terms and new directions in current English lexicography: professional, volunteer, collaborative, interdisciplinary, corpus, etc. The main accent is made on the role of users in digital reality as well as research of users’ needs and demands in the dictionary making process. The article analyses principles of new lexicographic digital projects for general and special purposes (distant learning, new terminological systems: biomedicine and the like), created by professional and volunteer lexicographers. The author describes information portals and new directions in English specialized lexicography (political, law, touristic), terminological corpora and glossaries of pandemic terms, distant learning lexis, ect. The paper also includes analysis of apps-dictionaries, which attract users with different level of English knowledge, including schoolchildren and students.
