Abstract

This paper employs the latest ideas and concepts in the field of markeme analysis in order to provide an updated and detailed description of markemes in Russian poetic language. The research explores lists of markemes found in texts by 15 Russian poets of the second third of XIX century. The objectives include determining the most typical and unique authors of the studied period, splitting interval and linking markemes into core and periphery along with defining their dominants and vice dominants, and analyzing relations between the poets. The value of Index of Textual Markedness serves to establish the most common markemes of the second third of XIX century. To describe the role of a particular poet within the given interval, such concept as Index of Relative Chronological Validity is used. Authors are grouped into centers of attraction and intermediary centers according to their Index of Markeme Similarity. This parameter is derived from the lists of markemes of compared authors and equals to the sum of products of Indices of Textual Markedness of corresponding markemes. The links between authors are visualized via directed graphs, and markemes participating in forming these links are characterized based on their specificity for a given intermediary centre.
