The article describes the use of a blur filter to remove noise from an image, which is based on the diffusion equation. It allows to describe the process of transferring matter without creating or destroying it. The article discusses the process of mixing the intensity of a monochrome image in order to obtain a smoothed copy of it, while using a diffusion coefficient that depends on the gradient of the image avoids blurring the boundaries of objects in the image. To solve the initial boundary value problem, difference schemes were created that reduce it to solving sparse systems of linear equations. An effective solution algorithm has been developed for them. In addition, a computational experiment was carried out to evaluate the quality of the obtained images and the speed of operation of the proposed algorithm.
