The kinetics of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde (vanillin) sorption on the high- and medium
basic anion-exchange membranes and their granular analogues is studied. The differenсe in diffusion
mechanisms of hydroxybenzaldehyde sorption on membranes and on ion-exchange resins has been
revealed. For the anion-exchange membranes sorption of vanillin in the initial sections of the kinetic
curves is limited by the stage of internal diffusion, for the granules – by film diffusion stage. Based on the
analysis of IR spectra of the anion-exchange materials before and after sorption of vanillin a two-step
mechanism for non-exchange interaction in the sorbent - sorbtive solution system is proposed.
