The evolution of value orientations in the agricultural sector of the Voronezh region

Abstract

Subject. The article is devoted to the study of labor values in agriculture of the Voronezh region.
The purpose of the work is to analyze how values have changed in the agricultural sector from the point of view of management theories and historical development. The main focus is on the contradiction between large agricultural holdings and small farms.
Methodology. The research is based on comparative analysis, interviews with heads of agricultural organizations and farmers, surveys of owners of personal subsidiary farms, as well as the study of documents of agricultural holdings. The theory of spiral dynamics, which describes the evolution of value systems, is used as a theoretical basis.
The results show that agricultural holdings and small business entities have different value orientations. Large companies are focused on profit, efficiency and export. Small farms value traditions, self-sufficiency and the preservation of rural lifestyle. A discrepancy has been found between the stated values of agricultural holdings and their actual practice, which often leads to job cuts and deterioration of infrastructure in villages.
Conclusions. The dominance of large holdings poses risks to the sustainable development of rural areas. To solve this problem, a regional policy is needed that supports small agribusiness and encourages large companies to take real social and environmental responsibility. This will help to combine economic efficiency with rural development.
