About the efficiency of the functioning of gender power institutions in modern families

Abstract

In this article the synthesis of methods of institutional theory, gender economics and synergetics is applied to the study of gender interactions in modern families. We have found that the life ’s strategies of men and women in family economics are determined by operating in Russia extensive network of institutions of gender power. It is proved that the family economics can be effective only if the disposition of power defined by each of them will be consistent. It was revealed that in the absence of external factors impact on the family it is possible to achieve different types of equilibria: traditional, transitional and egalitarian. When the family interactis with environment the egalitarian type will be optimal. We have defined the conditions under which it can be achieved and we have also suggested the directions of leveling operation of the institutions of the gender power in Russia.
