A look at the term "social innovation" through the prism of the concept of social capital

Abstract

In today’s highly competitive world of technology, markets, research and development of human resources for individual economic' requires finding and disclosing the underlying potential, often dissolved in routine social and economic processes, and imperceptible to most actors. Recently, a great interest to the scientific community are studies in the field of social innovation, which are seen as a significant instrument of social and economic development. Until now, the scientific community there is no single approach to the definition of «social innovation», which, of course, covers a very extensive part of the society. The purpose of this study is to examine the phenomenon of social innovation and its definition in terms of the concept of social capital. The article deals with the current terminology creates a comparative characterization of the phenomenon of social innovation and social capital, as well as formulate a definition of social innovation.
