Abstract

Purpose: analysis of the processes related to the new professions emergence that requires major changes in the whole system of education in Russia. It generally retained its mass character, but far inferior in quality.Discussion: based on the research, the author evaluated the perception of new modern professions by students and teachers of higher educational institutions and came to the conclusion that the new professions considered by the example of the tourism and hospitality industry require specialists to obtain new competences. In addition the replacement of the existing professions will not be proportional. There will be only one new profession instead of three out-of-date ones. It will inevitably lead to a shortage of jobs and as a consequence to workplaces reduction. Results: underlining this complex problem, the author proposes the academic community and employers to rethink the coming changes deeply and develop preventive measures allowing an effective strategy development for the development of the country’s human capacity.
