Abstract

Purpose: the article deals with the issues of sustainable energy development of the region (state). It considers the approaches to measure sustainable energy development of the state existing in the world practice. Discussion:the author developed the index of sustainable energy development of the region and presented the methodology of its calculation. The index allows estimating the current level of sustainable energy development of the state and tracking its dynamics by years, and also comparing the position of the country on this category to the other countries. In the index the indicators on external and internal factors are balanced. With the help of the index it is possible to estimate sustainable energy development in general and on separate factors and subsystems of indicators. Results: the article runs about the calculation of the index for Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia and Poland for 2012. The comparative analysis of these countries in the section of the group indicators characterizing economic, technological, social and ecological factors is made.
