Abstract

The paper deals with the principle of environmental justice, aimed at preventing and eliminating social and spatial concentration of the harmful effects of environmental factors on the human body, as well as the ensuring an equitable access to environmental resources. The indicators of environmental justice needed for strategic planning of urban development are listed in the work. The analysis of the experience in the application of this principle has shown that in contrast to the international researches in Russian scientific literature the principle of environmental justice is not widely used. Taking into account the results of the correlation analysis of the relation of public health to environmental factors in the Russian cities, the conclusion about the importance of adapting foreign experience in the application of the principle of environmental justice to modern Russian conditions is made.
