The concept of sustainability and its economic nature in the sphere of agricultural production
Abstract
Purpose: the article is devoted to retrospective analysis of the concept of «sustainability» and its place in the study of agro-industrial systems. Discussion: the authors analyze complex interaction of factors, which determine the sustainability of agricultural production, and their future influence, which is usually forecasted with the help of retrospective analysis of time series statistics or with the use of expert estimation. This approach reflects in risk category. The authors also deal with the risk accounting, which helps to foresee the influence of future negative phenomenon and gives an opportunity to create the mechanisms for the consequence compensation. Results: the authors determined that sustainable production is essential for the systems operating in the agricultural sector. The authors also revealed the number of features, which cause lower stability of agriculture in comparison with other sectors.
