Abstract

Purpose: to identify the composition, general and specific characteristics of the regions of the Russian Federation leading in the field of industrial production. Discussion: identification of General and special characteristics of industrial development of administrative-territorial formations should be carried out on the basis of cluster analysis. This method allows to unite regions, municipalities and other spatial-functional systems into homogeneous groups. As a baseline for the analysis, it is advisable to use indicators that reflect the volume of sales of goods, the number of enterprises, the number of employees, the value of fixed assets, the volume of investments, the balanced financial result for the three types of industrial activities separately (mining, manufacturing, production, distribution of electricity, gas and water. Results: the composition of five groups of Russian regions differing in the given parameters of industrial development is determined. The characteristic features of industrial development of three groups of the Russian regions leading in this sphere of activity are defined.
