Investment activity as a factor of increasing regional competitiveness

Abstract

Purpose: to development methodological approaches to assessment of the impact of investment volumes and directions on socio-economic development indicators that characterize the competitive advantages of the Federal subjects and municipalities, which will allow to forecast the development of individual industries and provide competitive advantages to regions based on the study of the essence and factors of regional competitiveness, analysis of the dependence of the level of competitiveness of the territory on investment activity. Discussion: In contrast to economic entities, competition in relation to territorial entities has special forms of manifestation, depends on a set of specific factors and is evaluated for various purposes. From a theoretical and practical point of view, the problem of determining the level of regional competitiveness is quite complex. The existing system of rating the regions and the ongoing assessment of competitiveness does not always reflect the market leadership and real advantages of the territory. All this testifies to the need to develop systems for assessment, analysis and management of the regional competitiveness, on the one hand, and actualizes the problems of identifying key factors for improvement of competitiveness in the conditions of limited competitive resources, on the other. Special attention, in our opinion, should be paid to the study of the role of investment attractiveness of the region and the assessment of the impact of investment activity on the development indicators of territorial entity. Results: a methodological approach is proposed to assess the impact of investment on key indicators that characterize the level of development of a municipality and affect the rating of the social-economic situation of the region, which directly reflect the level of its competitiveness.
