Abstract

Purpose: еstablishment of relationships between the state of environmental and economic activity of Russian regions and the dynamics of indicators characterizing their social, economic and environmental subsystems. Discussion: the study used official statistical data on the status of indicators reflecting the state of the social, economic and environmental subsystems of the regions. Correlation-regression, cluster and comparative analysis methods were used for data processing. Results: аs a result of cluster analysis, it was found that the regions of Russia in terms of environmental and economic activity are reliably aggregated into five fairly homogeneous groups. Analysis of ten indicators of development of regions – representatives of the most and least active clusters so far – hall that for a number of indicators there are no reliably established differences between them. At the same time, there was a rather definite indication of the more preferable dynamics of the active region in terms of indicators: population size; GRP per capita; the volume of recycled and therefore used water; discharge of contaminated wastewater. Changes in any indicator group where comparisons are possible demonstrate a more preferred state of the active region.
