Indicators and channels of obtaining information on health status of workers by phases of life cycle

Abstract

Purpose: the purpose of this article is to suggest and substantiate the indicators and channels of obtaining information on the health status of employees by lifecycle phases that allow determining of effectiveness of health promotion activities at workplace. Discussion: on the one hand, the health of an employee is an integral part of his/her potential. On the other hand, this is a prerequisite of his/her success. Health changes with time due to natural causes and external factors. A number of external factors can be managed by employees, others – by employers, the state and society. It is at workplace that working population spends significant time, and the health promotion activities influence the behavior as related to health and are devoted not only to the improvement of labor management and working conditions, but also to development of personal competencies of employees. Labor market participants are interested in quantitative and qualitative indicators that make it possible to determine the efficiency of health promotion activities. Results: the author’s viewpoint on evolution of opinions regarding health promotion at workplace is stated, and an approximate age range is given for a three-phase lifecycle option with requirements of companies and individual challenges and needs of employees taken into account. Objective and subjective health indicators of different age groups, which are monitored to assess the efficiency of activities aimed at prevention of occurrence of diseases and their severity as well as at early detection of diseases that are the most common among adult population of the Russian Federation, have been analyzed. Channels via which a company can obtain information on health status of employees have been identified. Indicators and channels of obtaining information on the health status of employees by lifecycle phases have been suggested with physiological and psychosocial peculiarities of different age groups taken into account.
