Abstract

Discussion: Based on a comparison of positive and negative external effects of tourism, the authors propose to reduce the negative impact of tourism through its development "sustainable" basis, taking into account the participation of all stakeholder groups - parties that depend on the development of tourist activity. Acting on the purpose and motivation of stakeholders, tourism can significantly contribute to the achievement of sustainable development and the resolution of related problems.
Results: the Authors identified relevant issues of sustainable tourism development, substantiated the principles of sustainable tourism, present a variety of approaches to the definition of "sustainable tourism", the groups of stakeholders, and sustainability criteria in tourism identified.
