Peculiarities of Development and Competitiveness of Post-Industrial Cities

Abstract

Abstract.. The article is devoted to the actual problem of the competitiveness of cities, sustainability of the territory by identifying their economic and geographical advantages. Modern approach to the definition of “sustainable development” is considered, the properties of structure of a system are revealed. The author proves that the “competitiveness” of the city - a broader concept than “investment attractiveness” or “investment climate.” Competitiveness includes components that contribute to the attraction of the city is not only investment, but also a number of other resources. Basic principles of spatial development of the area and the criteria to be considered when developing a strategy for sustainable development are distinctly formulated.
