The article defines the methodological problems of assessing the investment attractiveness by existing methods. The interrelation between investment attractiveness, institutional conditions and strategies of companies’ behavior in the information space of the financial market was indicated. The authors propose a model for evaluating the investment attractiveness through a typological grouping, which is based on the nature of the behavior of economic entities as information providers in the financial market. A methodology for assessing the investment attractiveness in the region was developed and tested on real sets. Investment attractiveness indexes for sampling of 16 regions of Russia were obtained. A comparative analysis of the author's and existing methods was carried out. Correlations of investment ratings with data of the socio- economic status of the subjects of the Russian Federation are determined. The transition from an estimation of an investment attractiveness to an estimation of potentials of growth on the basis of the carried out grouping of an information space of the financial market is offered. The results of the research can be applied to the development of regional development strategies, investment strategies, institutional environment analysis, assessment of investment attractiveness of regions and industries.
