Тhis article deals with the problem of asymmetry of educational terms in Russian and English langua ges. English borrowings seem to be the major source of new pedagogic terms in Russian language. As mentioned in the text, it is greatly infl uenced by globalization, internationalization of scientifi c knowledge, digitalization and commercialization of education. The process of term borrowing and the terminologization of new words go through several stages. In order for a word to become a term, it should meet a number of requirements that are discussed in this article. Terminoids and preterm can appear at intermediate stages. Recently, the main trend is the complete or partial assimilation of English terms in Russian. The examples given in the article clearly demonstrate that the process of terminologization seems to be simplifi ed due to the fact that most of the English pedagogical and methodological terms are borrowed into Russian by calquing or transcription/transliteration. In conclusion, it was pointed out that this problem remains relevant and requires further study.
