Abstract

Purpose: the article is devoted to the comparisons of the main provisions of the basic approaches to the problem of choosing the most effective location of outlets. Discussion: the main characteristics of economic and mathematical models used in econometric studies of location points of specific networks are presented. The authors suggest considering of two enlarge directions in the theory of effective location of outlets: descriptive and deterministic approach; explanatory and probabilistic approach. The article provides a detailed classification of spatial models and methods for determining trade zone of retail outlet. Results: the advantages and disadvantages of the methods, used for the retail outlets allocation, have been identified; the basis for the selection of econometric models has been formed.
