Improving the competitiveness of the monocity economics as subjects of the regional economy

Abstract

Purpose: the formation of a system of measures to improving the competitiveness of the monocities. Discussion: the subject of study are the monocities of the RF Central Federal District with the «difficult socioeconomic situation». Results: in the course of reflection on the system of measures aimed at improving their competitiveness authors determined the nearby major city of commuting population: White Birch – Trubchevsk (35 km), Verhnedneprovsky – Dorogobuzh (9 km), Velikooktyabrsky – Firovo (10 km), Shortbread – Rybinsk (41 km). We recommended alternative economic activities, which development will reduce both the social sphere and the municipal budget dependences on the financial condition of the city-forming enterprise. Our results could be applied in monocity research, in the social and economic development of monocity’s programs by municipal authorities as well as integrated investment planning.
