Solution of the problem of verification data in economic-mathematical analysis of health care institutions

Abstract

Purpose: analysis of healthcare institutions. Discussion: one of the basics for health care reform success is an ability to analyze of treatment quality and financial stability for hospitals and other medical institutions. There are numerous economic-mathematical models and software for such kind of analysis. Reliable and full source data for any modelling procedures is a good basement for managers and specialists to trust the results. Complete data collecting and their further verification is a very difficult as well as poorly formalized task. The article considers the problems of distortion and lack of data in economic-mathematical modeling and forecast basing on the authors experience for some large hospitals investigation with authors’ medAudit® model and decision support system. Results: the «medical environment resistance» phenomenon and its formal model are described in details explaining the main reasons decreasing that economic analysis quality because of lack of engagement and strong differentiation between clinical and financial management nowadays. The described integrated approach and methods let analytics to get more reliable source data, to provide data verification for purposes of comprehensive hospitals economy analyses and forecast in case of hard «environment resistance» responsible for some data lack and distortion. It is proved that medAudit® software application and methods described here allow more robust and adequate hospital financial modeling, even in cases of model parameters partial incompleteness and distortion.
