Evaluation of impacts of mining industries on ecological and social development of the region (on the example of Orenburg region)

Abstract


Purpose: The article is devoted to the analysis of the impact of mining on a number of environmental and socio-demographic indicators of the region. Discussion: The assumption that in the regions with developed mining environmental situation is worse than in other regions, the authors compare and analyze the Orenburg region with other regions of the Volga Federal District (VFD) for environmental and social indicators. With the help of the correlation analysis, it is supposed to prove the negative impact of the mining industry on the environmental situation and social indicators, including crime rate. Results: The authors evaluated the influence of mining industry on ecological and social indicators of Federation subjects and municipal formations of Orenburg region. The results of the empirical studies confirmed the negative influence of mining industry on ecological and social development of the mining region.
