Systematization of data collecting methods by rating agencies for international estimation of university competitiveness

Abstract

Purpose: the author deals with the systematization of data collecting, which different rating agencies conduct in order to estimate the most competitive academic institution and also to diagnose weak points of a certain higher education institution. Discussion: еach year ratings become mandatory attribute of global learning service market. Despite none of them can give absolutely clear-eyed result, it’s difficult to deny that this instrument formats social reality. Demand on higher education is growing and Спрос на высшее образование растет и the need to assess the quality of learning services is extremely relevant. International ratings became an important part of economic development estimation of countries and human capital assets. Rating results are of great interest from the position of assessing the state of the national education system at international level. Results: the author carried out the systematization of methods of collecting information for rating ARWU, THE, QS, and also the analysis of the Universities, which are included in the top five of these rankings. The author made the conclusions about the need of the participation of educational organizations in the rankings.
