About the need and opportunities for ensuring a balanced development of Russian regions

Abstract

Purpose: the authors identify the problems and offer the ways to solve them to ensure a balanced regional development of the Russian Federation. Discussion: the problem of balancing the pace and scale of regional economic development is a priority and is formalized accordingly in the main strategic documents of the long-term spatial Russian Federation development. At the same time, the economic nature of this problem is in the stage of a descriptive scientific search, not named and not formalized in the system of quantitative assessments, which would allow to characterize the actual state of affairs («standing point»), reflect the real level of its (situation) problem, determine the trajectory stabilization and development and form a set of indicators corresponding to it, which characterizes the dynamics and efficiency of the smoothing processes / controlling regional socio-economic differentiation. Results: the authors made the assessment of the prospects for the implementation of balanced regional development as a strategic guideline of the current functioning stage for Russian regions economies.
