Abstract

Purpose: The article is devoted to the public management of yacht tourism market in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, determining the significance of such management. Discussion: Analysis of the yacht tourism in numerous countries leads to the conclusion that with the proper state support, it can become one of the fastest growing sectors of the regional economy. In this regard, efficient management is an important factor in the formation and development of yacht tourism market in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region. At the same time the integrated approach to the yacht tourism development has not been developed yet. Given the high attractiveness of St. Petersburg for foreign tourists and at the same time the popularity of yachting in the neighboring countries St. Petersburg has good prospects for yacht tourism development. The current state of the market requires the simultaneous formation of both demand and supply. In the analysis of measures necessary for the development of yacht tourism market, the authors consider measures to create demand and supply in terms of governance. Results: Based on the analysis of global best practices authors identified the main directions and measures for the development of yacht tourism market. The expediency of allocation of yacht tourism into a separate area (subsector) of the city tourism industry is identified. The need for a single, consolidated policy of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, caused by the peculiarities of the functioning of this type of tourism, was justified.
