On the issue of the essence of high-tech and knowledge-intensive enterprises of the defense-industrial complex
Abstract
Subject: the military-industrial complex (MIC) is the core of the scientific and technical potential of the country, ensures the competitiveness and combat power of the country on the world stage. The enterprises of this complex are engaged in: research, development and production of high- tech and high-tech products. Such a variety of activities complicates the correct definition of the type of enterprise to high-tech or knowledge- intensive, which subsequently leads to inaccuracies: inefficient methods and methods of enterprise management, including the management of human resources of the defense industry enterprise; distortion of the idea of the real level of technological and knowledge-intensive enterprises. Purpose: this work is aimed at determining the high-tech and knowledge- intensive nature of defense industry enterprises, studying the features and specifics of the activities of these enterprises, their essence, similarities and differences. The assignment of the defense industry enterprise to a high-tech or knowledge-intensive type will allow the formation of effective management methods based on the strategy and characteristics of the enterprise to achieve maximum economic results. Research design: the purpose of the study was achieved by general scientific methods of cognition – system analysis, synthesis, deduction and induction. In the process of analysis, domestic sources of scientific literature, as well as the regulatory and legislative framework were used. Results: the result of the conducted research is the identification of methods for classifying an enterprise as a high-tech type or high-tech, the role and place of these enterprises in the life cycle of high-tech and high-tech products are studied, the distinctive features of these types of enterprises are determined, the author’s definitions of «high-tech enterprise» and «high-tech enterprise» are formulated.
