Key trends and the prospects for the development of innovative activity of hotel enterprises in the Russian Federation
Abstract
Importance: the activity of hotel business enterprises in modern conditions is based on the need to determine sustainable development mechanisms in a turbulent macroeconomic environment. This is due to various reasons, which include a difficult geopolitical situation, epidemiological instability, etc. In recent years, the role of introducing innovations into the activities of organizations seeking to have a competitive advantage in their industry activities has been increasing. Purpose: disclosure of key trends and substantiation of the prospects for the development of innovative activity of enterprises in the hotel business of the Russian Federation. Research design: Assuming that the adaptation of innovative technologies and developments has a significant advantage for the activities of hotel enterprises in the current market conditions, the authors of the study consider the main trends in the use of innovations in the hospitality sector through the prism of a generalized content analysis, analyze the dynamics of the coefficient of innovative activity of Moscow hotel enterprises and Russian Federation, as well as highlight the prospects for innovative activity of hotel business enterprises in the Russian Federation in the context of macroeconomic turbulence and limited business activity caused by the pandemic. Results: The conclusion was made about the most relevant trends in innovative activity in the hotel industry based on the results of content-analysis of a wide range of opinions of authoritative experts in this field. The use of empirical methods, in particular economic analysis and statistical grouping, made it possible to diagnose the current and potential quantitative parameters of the innovative activity of hotel enterprises in the domestic economy. The authors conclude that the increase in innovative activity is a strategic initiative for the development of hotel enterprises, which will ensure the growth of commercial efficiency and stability of operation in an aggressive competitive environment. In the current environment, the hotel management policy should be aimed at allocating an investment budget in order to finance innovative developments and adapt their results.
