The article deals with the introduction of project management in the Executive bodies of state power. The goals, principles and fundamental provisions of the organization of project activities in the regions of the country are presented. The authors developed a model of project management organization, which reflects the relationship of stages, processes and tools of project activities. The experience of subjects of the Russian Federation and best practices of project management in the regions of Russia. On the example of the Bryansk region the portfolio of regional projects is presented, the organizational structure of management of project activity in the region is constructed. On the basis of open data from official sources, information has been collected that reflects the financing of regional projects in the Bryansk region for the future. It is presented in the context of national priorities. The main problems preventing the early spread of project activities in the regions of Russia are formulated.
