General provisions

The journal "Proceedings of Voronezh State University" accepts for publication materials containing the results of original research, designed in the form of full articles, brief communications, as well as reviews (in agreement with the editorial board). Published papers, as well as papers submitted for publication in other journals, will not be considered.

Full articles are accepted up to 20 pages (5000 words) of manuscript, short articles up to 5 pages (1750 words). The article should be written concisely, neatly arranged and carefully edited.

In order to publish an article, authors must submit the following materials and documents to the editorial office:

  • the text of the article, in accordance with the following requirements, signed by all authors, UDC, tables, figures and signatures to them (in 2 copies). The captions under the figures, the names of the tables and the fields of the tables are provided in Russian and English;
  • the title of the article, abstract (the recommended volume of the abstract is 200 words), key words, the initials and the last name of the authors, place of work, legal address - in Russian and English (in 2 copies)
  • files of all submitted materials on an electronic carrier or by e-mail of the editorial board;
  • the list of references, which should be in two versions: in the original language (List of References) and in roman transliteration with partial translation into English (References). Transliteration of the Cyrillic text is carried out according to BGN/PCGN standards;
  • information about the authors: their positions, academic degrees, phone numbers and e-mail addresses, ORCID (Open Research Contributor ID) of the author(s);

Articles sent to the editorial board are subjected to review and, in the case of a positive review, to scientific and control editing.

The article sent to the author for revision should be returned as corrected along with its original version as soon as possible. A letter from the authors should be attached to the revised manuscript, containing replies to all comments and explaining any changes made to the article. An article delayed for more than three months or requiring reworking is treated as newly received.

Authors are not charged for the publication of articles.

Structure of publications

The publication of full papers, short communications and reviews begins with the Universal Decimal Classification index, followed by the title of the article, the initials and names of the authors, the extended names of the scientific institutions and the legal address. This is followed by the date the material was received by the editors, then by an abstract and key words, in Russian and English. The abstract should give the reader concise information about the main content of the article and the results of the research conducted, and should be explicitly structured according to a scheme:

  • Purpose;
  • Methods;
  • Results;
  • Conclusion.

When translating into English, the use of Internet translators is not allowed.

The Editorial Board recommends that authors structure their submissions by using subheadings:

  • INTRODUCTION
  • EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE
  • DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
  • CONCLUSION
  • REFERENCES

At the end of the article information about the authors is placed (surname, first name, patronymic, academic degree, position, place of work, contact information - in Russian and English, ORCID).

Requirements for the design of the manuscript

The text of the article should be printed on white A4 paper, spaced ~ 2.5 cm on the left side, font size 14 (Times New Roman), alignment - to the width, it is not recommended to use automatic hyphenation.

All pages of the manuscript, including the list of references, tables, figure captions, and figures should be numbered. Each table should have a subject heading. Formulas, figures, tables, and references to literature should be numbered in the order they are mentioned in the text.

Drawings should be attached separately (in 2 copies). The format of the figure should ensure the clarity of all details. Inscriptions on drawings are given in Russian; dimensions of values on coordinate axes are usually indicated with a comma (e.g., U, V; t, s). The caption should be self-contained, with no appeal to the text. The back of the figure should indicate its number, the name of the first author, mark "top" and "bottom" if necessary.

Half-tone photos (to be used only when absolutely necessary) should be submitted on white glossy paper (in 2 copies), photocopies are not accepted.

Reference to the used literature is given in the text by the number in square brackets. If the reference to literature is in the table or figure caption, it is given a serial number that corresponds to the location of this material in the text of the article. References to unpublished works are not allowed. The list of references is drawn up in alphabetical order, with publications in Russian first, then in foreign languages (alphabetically).

Formulas and symbols in the text must be written clearly and concisely. The external mathematical formulas (which have to be written on a separate line) must be typed in the built-in formula editor in their entirety. A set of formulas made up of composite elements is not allowed.

Requirements for the electronic version

The electronic version should include: a file containing the text of the article and illustrations, and files containing illustrations. The text of the article should be typed in Times New Roman font, 14 point, 1.5 spacing.

An inventory must be attached to the set of files (possibly as a file), indicating the name and version of the text editor, file names, title of the article, names and initials of the authors.

The main text of the article should be submitted in Microsoft Word .docx format with the exact indication of the version of the editor.

Use jpeg, tiff, vmp, cdr formats when preparing graphic objects. Files containing illustrations should be presented in the specified formats. The article with figures submitted in a different format will not be published.

Drawings must be in black and white, using shading rather than filling. Photographs should be in black and white. When preparing files in bitmap format, it is advisable to adhere to the following requirements:

  • 400 dpi (dots per inch) for scanning line drawings;
  • for scanning grayscale drawings and photos at least 300 dpi (dots per inch).

Graphic files should be named in such a way that it is clear which article they belong to and which figure in the article they are. Each file should contain one figure.

Tables are part of the text and should not be created as graphical objects.
