Realia-neologisms – latest entry in the french dictionary of political terms

The article is devoted to the analysis of the systemic characteristics (word-forming, semantic, typological) of social-political realia-neologisms – the last occurrences of the French electronic dictionary «Toupictionnaire: ledictionnaire de politique». The authors investigate the corpus of realia-neologisms functioning in the language, marked by a dictionary of political terms as new entries in 2022, due to a change in the meaning of terms that were previously included in the social-political realicon. The study of the material was carried out within the framework of realia theory using the method of contextual and component analyses, which made it possible to reveal the semantic features of the analyzed neologisms based on their vocabulary and the specifics of their functioning in the context. The material for the study was the dictionary «Toupictionnaire: le dictionnaire de politique». Based on dictionary defi nitions, the authors determined the reference specificity of empirical material represented mainly by political C-realia. Based on the typological criterion, the identifi ed C-realia were classified by the authors into three groups: 1) national C-realia; 2) international C-realia; 3) pan-European C-realia, the boundaries between which are mobile, which is confirmed by the transition of realia from one group to another. In the process of analysis, the most productive word-forming models for each of their three types of realia-neologisms are identified and it is determined that national social-political realia-neologisms are formed by confixation, affi xation, telescopy; international realia-neologisms – using confixation and telescopy; pan-European realianeologisms – using telescopy, affixation. However, the most productive way to form all three distinguished types is, according to the dictionary, semantic, associated with various modifications of the meaning of a word, extensions or narrowings of its meaning and the formation of so-called neologisms of content.
