Abstract

Importance: the totality of social and labour relations arising as a result of the spread of informal employment in the economy. Purpose: solution of theoretical and methodological issues of the study of informal employment in modern conditions. Research design: theoretical and methodological basis of the study was formed by the works of foreign and domestic scientists in the field of employment and its informal sector. The research toolkit is represented by such general scientific and private methods as: deduction, induction, comparative analysis, graphical interpretation of data. The study is based on the study of relevant scientific literature devoted to various aspects of the existence and spread of informal employment in modern conditions. Results: it is substantiated that informal employment of the population is a complex socio-economic phenomenon, characteristic at present for the economies of all countries of the world, regardless of their level of development. The complexity and multidimensionality of informal employment, its wide range of specific features, as well as a variety of accompanying effects, which is a serious barrier to further theoretical understanding of this socio-economic phenomenon, have been revealed. The problems of determining the number and scale of informal employment in the economy of the Russian Federation are revealed, as well as the methodological incompleteness of statistical accounting of informal employment, which leads to distortion of its real scale
