Abstract

Purpose: the authors aim to consider the theoretical and methodological issues of the agrarian structure and justify the main directions for its improvement in the Central Black Earth macro-region. Discussion: аs a result of the cardinal economic and social transformations, a mixed agriculture in the macroregion formed, significant changes occurred in the agrarian structure: the structure of gross output of agricultural producers, their resource potential and financial results. The lack of clear understanding of agrarian (in our research) institutional structure had a negative impact on reproduction processes and the provision of food to the population of the macroregion. Results: the author gives a definition of the agrarian structure; systematizes the main factors that have the most significant impact on the development and the ratio of various categories of farms; substantiates the need to change the current typology of agricultural producers; determines the conceptual directions and policy mechanisms of the long-term development of small and medium-sized businesses in the agrarian structure of the Central Black Earth macro-region.
