Research in sorption interactions in the system sodium selenite – zeolite tuff by scanning electron microscopy

Abstract

In order to study the mechanism of interaction of sodium selenite with natural zeolite tuff held
scanning slice and sorbent grain surface by scanning electron microscopy. The result of contact with the tuff
of sodium selenite solution with a concentration above 0.05 M is the allocation on the sorbent surface of the
crystalline form of sodium selenite, forming large aggregates dendrite form. It is assumed that nucleation and
crystal growth starts with the diffusion exchange of calcium cations for structural defects in the grain surface,
where they are binding to selenite ions. Predisposition selenite ions in the formation of polymeric forms
creates the conditions for the directed growth of dendrites on the surface of the grain tuff. The results
obtained contribute to the disclosure of the adsorption mechanism of interaction of ions of selenium (IV) with
zeolite tuff by visualizing the form of finding them in the sorbent phase.
