Abstract

The article discusses the types ofwages of industrial workers in Russia of the late XIX- early XX century, their correlation with the forms of hiring, sectoral peculiarities of the system of payment for work, the use of the latest achievements in the field of motivation to work. The paper concludes that the wages in the industry of Russia were in general consistent with the early industrial phase of modernization, when the piece-rate basis of payment gradually shifted to the center of the labour relations, leaving on the periphery, on the one hand, the patriarchal and egalitarian forms of payment peculiar to the past, and on the other hand, the latest systems of remuneration of workers peculiar to the more complicated labour.
