Historical and Geographic Aspects of Forming a System of Specially Protected Areas (SPA) in the Volgograd Region

Abstract
The aim is to show the priority of the staff of the Department of Geography, Geoecology and Geography Teaching Methodology of the Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University (VGSPU) in the study and development of the network of specially protected natural areas (nature parks, reserves, natural monuments) in the Volgograd region. Materials and methods. To achieve this goal, numerous author's publications-monographs, articles, conference materials in which they found distance measurement data, stock sources, and expeditionary research were used. The duration of the study of protected areas with the participation of the authors is about 40-50 years. Results. More than 200 objects, the natural parks Donskoy, Shcherbakovsky, Nizhne-Khopersky, Ust-Medvedetsky, have received the status of natural monuments in the Volgograd Region based on copyrighted materials.
