Peer-review

All scientific articles submitted to the editorial board of the journal " Proceedings of Voronezh University. Series. Geography. Geoecology" are subjected to a mandatory "blind" review. The reviewer determines the novelty and scientific significance of the materials, the reliability of the results of the study, the content of the article and the nature of the presentation, the correspondence of the title of the manuscript and the text of the abstract to its content. The reviewer draws attention to the list of references (in particular, to the published works omitted by the author, which, in the reviewer's opinion, should have been mentioned in the article). Articles are reviewed both by members of the editorial board and by invited specialists. The period of reviewing does not exceed 2-3 weeks, but in rare cases it can be prolonged.

After reviewing the manuscript, the reviewer gives a detailed conclusion:

  • the article is recommended for publication;
  • the article is recommended for publication after the correction of the marked remarks;
  • the article cannot be accepted for publication.

If the reviewer's conclusion contains recommendations for publication after correcting the noted remarks, the editorial board sends the author information about the remarks and questions with a proposal to take them into account when preparing a new version of the article. Revision of the article should not take more than one and a half months from the date of sending an e-mail or telephone message to the author. The revised article is sent back to the author for reviewing. If authors refuse to revise an article, they should, as a matter of corporate ethics, notify the editorial board of their refusal to publish it.

If the authors do not return the revised version within two months from the date of sending them the review, the editorial board will withdraw the article from registration. In such situations, the author is notified about deregistration of the manuscript due to the expiration of the deadline for revision.
In cases of conflict between the author and the reviewer, the editor-in-chief decides, taking into account the opinion of the editorial board.

The decision to reject a manuscript is taken at a meeting of the editorial board according to the recommendations of the reviewers. An article not recommended for publication by the editorial board will not be re-examined. A notification of refusal of publication is sent to the author by e-mail. The final decision on publication is made by the editorial board.

The original reviews are stored in the journal's editorial office for 3 years.
