Abstract

The article is devoted to the characteristics of the spectrum of colors (rainbow) presented in the poetry of A. V. Zhigulin. The relevance of the study is explained by the need to study and describe the semantics of the poetic texts of poets of the 20th century. The article considers the use of coloratives in direct and fi gurative meanings; the place of color designations in the poet's idiolect is determined. The great majority of color designations are represented by adjectives: black, white, yellow, gold, blue, green, red, gray, light blue, silver, grizzle, orange, pink, whitish, dove, purple, fulvous, lilac, brown, among the verbs are noted : turn white, turn blue, turn yellow, turn green, turn golden, redden, turn pink, turn blue, blacken. There are single examples of color designations expressed by a noun. Poetic language of A. V. Zhigulin is varicoloured. The rainbow of Zhigulin's poetry differs from the heavenly rainbow both in the number of colors (there are 20 of them), and in the order of the main spectrum, depending on the frequency of a particular color. Black and white colors take the lead. Perhaps this has a connection with the events in the life of the poet. Yellow is the leader among spectral colors. Green and red form a homogeneous group in terms of representation in the middle of the Zhigulin's rainbow. Red, in accordance with the general language principle (in the language itself, red has the most shades and names) is represented by such variations (scarlet, crimson, reddish, bloody, bright red). Less than 3 % of Zhigulin's poems represent such colors as ginger, whitish, dove, purple, fulvous, lilac, brown. Colors in Zhigulin's poems interact: more often they contrast, less often they combine. Color is a means of creating expressiveness (epithet, metaphor, comparison).
