The article is devoted to the consideration of the lexeme-nominees of the frame “Music” and the analysis of the syntagmatic behavior of its elements in the literary texts of Anthony Burgess. The purpose of the paper is to identify and analyze lexical units used in the literary texts of A. Burgess in order to explain the frame «Music» from the point of view of their syntagmatic correlations, as well as to determine the types of dominant combinations. The work was carried out using such research methods as the contextual analysis method, the quantitative analysis method, the lexical combination (distribution) analysis method. The lexical items that represent the frame “Music” in A. Burgess’s literary texts and their syntagmatic relationships are analyzed from the perspective of combinatorial linguistics. An attempt was made to distinguish dominant combinations of lexemes, including the archiseme «music», with lexical items of different categorical relation. Four types of phrases, used in the literary texts of A. Burgess, have been identified in order to verbalize the frame “Music” from the point of view of their syntagmatic relationships. The frame “Music” in the literary texts of A. Burgess is recruited by lexical items that form four types of phrases, among which combinations stand out: 1) with the verb (verbal type of combinations); 2) with adjective lexeme (adjective type of combinations); 3) with a substantive lexeme, combined by means of a preposition (preposition- and-substantive type of combinations); 4) with a substantive lexeme (substantive type of combinations). Among the identified types of lexical combinations, the verbal type prevails, which is due to the author's intentions to highlight the actions performed by music and aimed at it.
