Abstract

Fibrous composition materials based on carbon fiber in combination with the biopolymer chitosan modified with molybdate ions were prepared. Modification was carried out with molybdenum adsorption with carbon fiber and chitosan-carbon materials (ChCM) from sodium molybdate solution at pH 3.0. Equilibrium and kinetic properties of the materials in the process of As(V) extraction from bidistilled and tap water were studied for its low content. It was shown that the half-time disappearance of As(V) for the sorbents studied equaled 40-60 min that was much more rapid than that for Mo-chitosan sorbents. The composition sorbents have high sorption capacities in solutions with As(V) concentrations 5-1500 μg/L including tap water in the presence of contaminant impurities. In bidistilled water we observed complete removal of As(V). When using these sorbents we observed partial washing-out of Mo into solution which did not depend on the value of As(V) sorption.
