Abstract

The purpose of this work is to get additional confirmation that the sorption prehistory affects the
specificity of interaction of sorbate with polymer. Sorption of water and organic liquids of different classes
by films of aliphatic and aromatic polyamides was studied. The amount of sorption centers in polymer, the
degree of their filling by sorbate and the amount of additional adsorption sites were calculated assuming that
the functional groups may be the sorption centers. It is established that the aromatic polyamide in water and
acetone swells stronger than the aliphatic polyamide due to the larger number of sorption sites. It was shown
that the sorption capacity of polymer relative to target component can be changed by its pretreatment by
substance having a higher affinity to the polymer. Examples of different sorption behavior of aliphatic and
aromatic polyamides are given.
