The article deals with the stratification of the vocabulary of the Catalan language according to the syntagmatic parameter. The research is conducted within the framework of the method of parametric analysis of vocabulary. The material of the study is the electronic version of the Catalan-Russian dictionary, converted into a database. The study shows that the wider the syntagmatics of a word, the more phrase combinations are formed with its participation. The distribution of words according to their phraseological activity (ability to enter stable word combinations) is simultaneously their distribution according to the syntagmatic parameter. Syntagmatic activity can be indirectly assessed by the number of phrase combinations with a given word: the wider the syntagmatics of a word, the more phrase combinations are formed with its participation. In addition, phraseology marks the concepts that are significant in the culture of a given ethnic group, and the selection of 1,000 words, the richest in phrase combinations, allows us to identify the core of syntagmatically active and culturally significant words. As an indirect indicator of the syntagmatic weight of a word is taken as the number of its phraseologically related uses, given in the dictionaries of the sources behind the rhombus, i.e. its idiomatic activity is taken as an indirect indicator of the syntagmatic activity of a word. At the same time, the following dependence is taken: the greater the number of word combinations includes a given word, the wider its syntagmatic combinability, the greater its syntagmatic weight. We single out the core of syntagmatically active and culturally significant words. The syntagmatic dominants of the Catalan vocabulary are the words mà ‘hand’, fer ‘to do’, the vice-dominants are the words bé ‘good, benefit’, cap ‘head’.
