Nikolai Georgievich Polyansky. The role of science in destiny
Abstract
The article presents a brief biography of a major Soviet and Russian chemist-scientist Polyansky N.
G. (31.12.1917-29.10.2010). His research interests include ion exchange, ionite catalysis, analytical chemistry
of inorganic substances, and industrial organic synthesis. N. G. Polyansky is a graduate of the chemical
faculty of Moscow state University. From 1946 to 1954, he worked at nuclear power plants to develop methods
for decontamination of material surfaces, as well as on issues of thermal stability of cation exchange
resins. In the period from 1963 to 1976, he was engaged in teaching and research activities in educational
institutions, industrial and scientific organizations in Tambov. He is one of the developers of industrial technology
for producing sorbic acid. The technology has been successfully introduced into production. N. G.
Polyansky was written a classic monograph on methods of research of ion exchangers, catalysis, ion exchangers
and analytical chemistry of bromine
