Quality of the labor force in Russia: regional aspect

Abstract

The authors turn to the problem of labor force formation, its qualitative characteristics in Russia on the whole and in a particular region - in the Vologda Oblast. On the basis of forecast estimates, the authors show that in medium-term outlook the proportion of working-age population is expected to decrease, while economic stress on the able-bodied population will increase. On the ground of sociological research, the article describes changes in the qualitative characteristics of the employees. The authors draw attention to the importance of increasing innovative activity among employees of the enterprises and factors which hinder its increase.
