The aim of this work was to study the reactions of methanolysis of triglycerides of vegetable
oils (coconut, palm, sunflower and soy) using heterogeneous basic catalysts — calcium and
magnesium oxides in mild conditions. Preliminary preparation of catalysts was maintaining calcium
hydroxide and magnesium nitrate at various temperatures (600, 800, and 1000 °C) for 1 hour. Calcium
oxide exhibits the maximum effectiveness as a heterogeneous catalyst in reactions methanolysis
of vegetable oils, obtained by calcining at 800 °C in an amount of 0.5—0.7 % by weight of the
oil load. The reaction time is 2—4 hours at 70 °C.
