This article is devoted to the problem of the development and functioning of the Russian language, which, as is known, has a high symbolic value and plays an important role in determining the place and role of a person in society, in the Russian Federation and the world. In this regard, the work solves extremely topical issues of determining the official (legal) and actual status of the Russian language in the modern socio-legal field of the Russian state and the world community. Russian Russian language changes in our country and the world demonstrate the active processes of formation of a new world language order: the americanocentric globalization is replaced by a polycentric reality in which the Russian language is assigned the most important consolidating role. The conclusion is made about the interconnectedness of modern concepts of language and capital: on the one hand, the state and quality of language capital are determined by the peculiarities of socio-economic and political development of the state; on the other hand, language capital as part of the cultural, human capital of a nation can contribute to both increasing and decreasing the efficiency of the national economy. Special attention is paid to the definition of the main task of modern educational institutions, which consists in forming in the minds of young people an understanding of the cultural significance of the Russian language, acting as the guardian of the cultural code of the nation. Russian Russian Ministry of Education projects aimed at popularizing and supporting the study of the Russian language and spreading the values of Russian national culture in the world are described. It is quite obvious that the Russian language today should become interesting to a foreign audience not only as the language of great culture and literature, but also as the language of education and professional growth.
